POONSCHWABPRADESH, INDIA (DPI) - President Bill Clinton received
grateful tributes from the women of this remote village today.
The women described how his support for women's' rights worldwide
had led to the easing of their subjugation at the hands of the men
in the village. One young, plump, comely villager demonstrated how
she used to have to kneel and present her backside to any man who
approached, symbolizing her lowly status and allowing him to know
her biblically if he so desired. Under the relaxed rules, now the
women only have to do that for men of a higher caste and for
visiting white foreigners. Mr. Clinton was so overcome with
emotion that he was forced to deliver his speech of acknowledgement
from a sitting position, and he later promised to return to the
village to check on the subjugation situation as soon as he got
rid of Chelsea.
